Chegou!

Arrived!!!

We were greeted by the smiles and hugs of O & M in Lisbon after going through customs and retrieving our lugguage.  It was great to have arrived!  The flight to London was smooth and we arrived on time after nearly 10 hours.  (I was fortunate to have slept about 6+ hours, R, not so much.)  We proceeded to find a place to rest as we waited nearly 4 hours for our flight into Lisbon...

R found a comfy bright red leather lounge chair and caught up on some much needed zzzzz's.  The flight into Lisbon was only about 2 hours, but seemed like many more as sleep deprivation was setting in and we knew we needed to go to bed once we arrive at O & M's.  A great night of sleep blessed us both and we awoke Friday morning ready to face the day.

Our day began slowly and continued with some much anticipated Portuguese treats.  After meeting with a special young couple anticipating coming to Portugal to live and minister among the people here and lunch at our favorite restaaurant here, we were on the road and headed to the town of Bombarrel, not quite an hour away.  A quaint, clean beautiful little town...

A beautiful home and retreat for missionaries.

... with a serene view out the back patio.

Ah, a cafe for coffee!  Um abatinado pingado cheia - mmmmm!!!

And of course, always better with great friends!

Now we were told that Friday was "O dia da mulher" (the day of the woman), so the ladies were out in full force everywhere we went.  I'm not sure what that really meant for woman, but that's what the day was designated!?!  Something interesting as we sat at the cafe and visited... Each time someone would come and go, they would leave the door open several inches instead of pulling to completely shut.  The wind was blowing outside, hense I was thinking the door blew open each time.  No, we learned that when the cafe is open, the door is always left open also, even if only a couple inches!?!  Hadn't known that before!  Our drive through town continued.

A favorite way to spend time in Portugal!!!

More tomorrow as it is past midnight now and I will suffer tomorrow as I listen really "hard" at church to understand what is being said.  I am SO grateful that R is now my personal translater.

Obrigado Deus por um maravilhoso início em um país lindo!  (Thank you God for a wonderful beginning in a beautiful country!)

  1. Oh my goodness you are a professional blogger and we are the benefactors! You are such a blessing to so many here and by the smile on your company's face, a blessing to your friends in Portugal. I can't wait to hear what God spoke to you through the church in Portugal.

    God bless.
